[PS3] Dead or Alive 5 Collector's Edition Pre-Ordered!

Hi gamers and collectors!

A very short story here. I took a trip up to the local mall to pre-order Dead or Alive 5 Collector's Edition. You'll be familiar with it if you follow Tecmo on Twitter or even be a member of their Facebook page, it's everywhere. It was priced at $110 ($108) in Australia, a little more expensive than the UK at $105.
Not too sure why Tecmo made the decision to only sell it at one chain of stores here, weirdly enough there are multiple choices in the UK and other countries. So by saying that the only place I could get it is from EB. Hmm...

It's been so long since I've pre-ordered a new release in Australia... I just hope Dead or Alive 5 will be worth it. I'm actually quite excited for it to tell the truth, I own every other DOA apart from Paradise (On my to get list!) this will be great for my collection!!
What actually enticed me to get this, is Sarah from Virtua Fighter is a playable character. She's like the Samus of SEGA lol. Anyway, that's enough rambling for me...
A lot more games currently in the shipping process, and will be here sometime this week. See you there!

Playstation 3 Super Haul!!!

Hi gamers!

Yep, I bought a shit load of Playstation 3 stuff all at once today, not something I usually do but this offer was quite amazing. So what did I get? Well another Playstation 3 80GB, 2 Dual shock 3s, about 10 games and 11 movies. As a freebie I was given a "Emma Frost bishoujo statue", which looked barely touched, had original plastic over the figure and what not.

Some games I already owned, liked Lollipop Chainsaw (see the overview here) and Ridge Racer 7 but I might sell those soon or I might not, if you're interested, contact me from the ASSEMbler boards, or YouTube, or PSN.

So the condition of all this? Really good, it's good to find a Playstation 3 that's been looked after and it actually runs unlike many eBay ones I've bought in the past. I did grab this bundle from a friend of mine, so also knowing who owned the system is another plus, and glad he was happy to sell it to me.

Am I happy with this buy? Of course, it was a great deal in such amazing condition, as a collector I'm glad it's gone to a good home :)

SONY produces yet another Playstation 3 Slim, with a top loading drive

Hi gamers!

Well, SONY will be SONY making several models to lower cost yet they all do the same thing... Who knows how much better this system will be, it sure does look ugly and more like a grill than the original.
Unknown  the ugly little sister may only have a 16GB HDD from the factory but could be unknown. There are other models with bigger drives still of course, much like our current 160GB and 320GB options.

Seeming that the PS3 is nearly 5 1/2 years old now, it's weird how small SONY can make the Playstation 3 now. Just like the Playstation 2 it got incredibly small. There is most likely lack of big buttons with very slim buttons you'd need a pin to press, although it seems.

As it's known in the letter, this is from SONY Brazil, and we could not see this model in other countries, it's very early to tell.

AV Beautiful Girl Fighter Arrived + Other Collecting News

Hi gamers!

As the delivery guy is so good at his job I had to wait the weekend until I could go to the post office today, after waiting in line for 15 minutes I finally managed to get my package. As I opened it up it was the highly collectable AV Beautiful Girl Fighter in all it's glory! If you missed out my talk about the game you can view it here. I plan to do a video about the game possibly tonight or tomorrow, depending if I feel up to it or not.

My collecting news stop at the Faimcom, with another game I've been looking for Vigilante 8 2nd Offense for a while now. I stayed up till 5am to win this auction and I know that sounds kind of crazy as it's not *super rare* but it's not very common either in PAL format. It seems (from the photo) it's in fantastic condition, now the nervous wait to see if it arrives to me in that condition... I'm hoping for no stupid packaging like a cereal box or shelf boxes -_-. I'll post an image when it arrives :)

Still on the Nintendo 64, Extreme G arrived last week, a little difficult to find in the PAL region CIB so I'm very happy to own it in this condition ^^

Just quick hitting the home base with the Playstation 3, lately I've found out I have the love for the hack-n-slash genre. So when I ordered Lollipop Chainsaw, I also ordered "Blades of Time" like I mentioned in the previous post. It's a fantastic game to put it in fewer words -- I'm up to the Vicar so I'm quite close to the end, so after that I'll be happy to review it.

Lollipop Chainsaw Beaten: The Verdict!

I beat Lollipop Chainsaw this evening, I can say it's a fantastic game! It's a little frustrating here and there, but the satisfaction of completing the level is fairly high. There is also some emotion grabbing as well, which really grabs the player into the story...This made me want to play the whole game through.

Mainly the Arcade level was annoying as it's hard to see where you can step and where you can't, but what was really good about that stage was that it had spoofs of old arcade games, like Pac-Man and Hotel Mario to name a few.
There was some driving, target practise, baseball, basketball events thrown into the progression of the story as well.

The boss fights dragged on as I feel, for example you cut your boss in half and then they either split into 2 enemies or they continue to fight you -- I understand them being all undead and everything but most boss fights I wanted to end within the first health bar but the bosses were very creative though and had good humour.

For those who bought the "Premium Edition" of Lollipop Chainsaw will not be happy after finding out the standard edition as ALL those costumes after beating the game once, even with the "Horrid Ending", while mentioning ending, this game has two -- let your classmates die and you'll get the "Horrid Ending", save them all and get the "Happy Ending".

The story mode may seem short (4 hours long) but there are lots and lots of secrets to find and trophies to collect, I'd say this game is more of a trophy hunter than anything else, and don't get me wrong it's still a fantastic game.

Now a lot of gamers have been mentioning it's not worth 80,70 bucks and indeed it's not, if you can manage to grab it for less then 50 like I did, you'll be happy from the amount of entertainment this game has.

If you haven't played any hack-n-slash games before, I wouldn't say this is a good place to start, the controls are a little tedious which got me pissed off a few times, although it's fun I guess playing it on "Easy" will help :)

Score: 8/10 Lollipops!

I don't hate modern gaming, just isn't that unique any more.

Hi gamers!

Many discussions this week about modern gaming, I've had a few comments on YouTube, forums, Facebook, Twitter and Steam about modern gaming and what I think about them.
As much as I love gaming inside and out, there are many aspects I look into when I see or play them. I used to do this when I was kid with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation, and I do this now with the Wii, XBOX 360 and Playstation 3.
With those consoles in mind, think about how the Nintendo 64's and Playstation games looked, and now how the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 games look. There isn't any uniqueness any more, you really have to look hard to find the differences now, not that this effects the average gamer, but it effects me, and a few others have notice this small difference problem too. It was good to have different graphics styles, every game gets a cross platform release, same price, same game, just different button mapping.

"Nintendo 64 Smooth graphics, bright colours Playstation - Choppy graphics, awesome sound"

Although to you this may not seem like a bad thing (which it's not), it just makes gaming today a lot less interesting. I haven't been that impressed with games in this generation as much as I was impressed with games even in the previous generation, let alone the generation beforehand. I used to look at a Playstation 2 game and think "wow, look at the lighting here!" then look at an XBOX game and be even more amazed. Now you can barely tell the difference what the game is running on...

Notice where I'm coming from?

I love Fighters, and Arcades racers the most, and a handful of RPGs. Arcade racers today just don't really work and the only one I've enjoyed is Blur (if you haven't noticed), of course I've liked Ridge Racer 7 and 3D blah blah, but I don't feel excited about playing them as I do say Destruction Derby 64, SF Rush, Super Mario Kart and so on, those are way more memorable than today's library.

I'd never quit modern gaming, although next generation doesn't look so bright (early to say?) but that's all matter of personal opinion. Though many gamers I've spoken to have thought about quitting modern gaming altogether as they were failed to be impressed by the favourite companies, which is quite sad.

With having said that, I am looking forward to a few sequels that may impress me or may disappoint me. I've mentioned some where the games I'm looking forward to, and I don't see the need to repeat that.
No need to get choppy about this, this my opinion on the matter, and just play what you enjoy! As a retro gamer maybe I just find it hard to move on.

Lollipop Chainsaw Censorship and Premium Edition

Hi gamers!

I'm REALLY excited for Lollipop Chainsaw, as far as I'm aware there are no *real* limited/special/collector's edition version of the game, sadly. It's a little early to say, but the amount of research I've done on the topic it appears Japan will only get the premium edition. Don't be alarmed though, *we're* not missing out on anything and by *we* I mean the US/UK. (I've stopped buying new games in Australia) the Japanese premium edition will only unlock the gore, sexuality and dual audio in the game, much like the US release but adds an additional outfit.

XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 will have their exclusive "premium" outfit. Below you'll find them. The bright pink "rider" suit is exclusive to XBOX 360 and the "cutie waitress" outfit is exclusive for the Playstation 3's premium.

If you want the extra outfit you'll have to cough up extra. There isn't much said about DLC for this game yet, however there's some feelings that these outfits will hit PSN Stores in the US. Making these outfits Japan exclusive is rather crazy, but since the Playstation 3 is region free there is nothing stopping you from owning this exclusive edition. For XBOX 360  users you're stuck with your region's default outfits sadly.

This is a form of censorship for the game, however it seems to only effect Japan's release. As Australian games don't have R18+ rating I wouldn't be surprised if this trend follows onto Australian release of Lollipop Chainsaw.

10x Winning Streak on Blur, reached rank 50 and a ingame argument!

Hi gamers!

I've been pretty quiet on my blog as in, writing stories. This is due to the point that I've been playing Blur so much recently.

I stopped playing at rank 36, my memory is kinda foggy on that but sounds about correct. Anyway, as I started playing again I got addicted twice as much as before resulting me in rocketing up to rank 50 in just 2 days. Of course after rank 40 the last few levels are piss easy and the reason for that is mainly the cars you unlock through out 40 to 50 are useless/you can do with out them.

Last mod you unlock is silent running which indeed was a mod I wanted ever since the start of multiplayer, but I hardly use it as you come out of the cloak from the smallest hits. Was fun using it on a few races though.

What really made me rank up so quickly is how many times I came first in a row, amazingly I got a 10x winning streak which is really rare for me. Most other level 50 players rage quit. As many players do they fight for 7th-5th place all the time which only gives the top 3 distance, and with the bottom 3 always using bolts and shunts on each other rather than shocks for the leading pack. If only those players would think straight this winning streak would not of happened to me, it's a positive thing for me sure but it's just too easy when this happens.

Last time I was level 49 :'(
There are great amount of cocky players on Blur, always ramming and thrashing around on the track. Usually when players do this one of two things can happen for you.

1. You can avoid the 'riot' and drive straight past, giving you a great amount of distance from the rest of the pack.

2. Getting caught in the middle of the 'riot' causing you to be defensive and ram back. Slows you down a hell of a lot and can cause you to spin out. Also forced to being rescued and set back even further.

Exactly why am I bringing this up? Well I started to get really angry at one player, the amount of cockyness that was coming from his driving was just aggravating, so I thought I'd counter his cockyness and play cocky myself. At every race I'd counter his ramming, manoeuvres, and powerups shots.
At this point, my heart started to increase in BPM as what I did became very effective, he couldn't pass me, slow me down or get close to me at all.

I get a message from this player, calling me all sorts of female names. (bitch, hoe, whore. etc). When players say these things to me, I often wonder WHY they call me female names.. Like I just don't get it.

I replied to one of his messages saying him to watch his mouth, as PSN and XBOX LIVE are very strict on foul language. He took the bait and I reported his sorry ass! While thrashing on the track and only aiming for him which only made him more angry I could see it in his driving. At this stage he couldn't message me (blocked) as he continually spammed my inbox cursing at me, so the only way for him to really reply was to be aggressive in the game which only made him screw up even more.

10 races later of him trying to counter my attacks he disconnected. BL!

Midweek Game Hunt Report! Each game was $2 :O

Hi gamers!

Last night I reported about a random game hunt which I usually do on weekends however the weather at the moment has been so god damn hot I took the opportunity to go out today (it was tolerable). As usual my friend An!NE tagged along, we went to a second hand store that was 20 minutes away nothing too special there I picked up a Logitech XBOX Controller ($3) (missing breakaway cable/Broken right trigger) and An!NE bough R-Type on Playstation 2 ($4) and Gran Turismo for Playstation ($3).

We jumped on the bus and travelled a further 15 minutes West and arrived at a local mall, as I've mention a few times already EB Games have been getting rid of Playstation 2 games and many of them are $4 each. An!NE again bought more games Super Bust-a-move, Half-Life and SSX all were $4. As we were leaving EB I mentioned I'm still empty handed and looks like I'll be going home that way, further up the mall there is another store JB they also have pre-owned games usually they're in big boxes and you have to flick the cases to see what they are it's such a pain in the ass, as I was looking through them I found was Fable looked a little harder on the price and it was $2, in fact every game you'll see below that was for XBOX was $2 so I bought every game they had in the box, of course ignoring all the sport titles.. yucky ^_^.
I do have one complaint how ever.. Why were most of the games covered in packing tape? Why were there so many pre-owned stickers inside and out? Why were some discs in the case and some were not.. Why what why!? ><"
I forgot to mention it took 20 minutes for the staff to find all the games.. ROFL.

Too much glare? The Playstation 3 game in the big box is Warhawk and the Playstation 2 game is R-Type. Sorry about the glare -_-
One of the staff has humour! ROFL

Playstation 3 Firmware 4.00 enables PSVita connectivity

Hi gamers!

A new firmware was released for the Playstation 3 on Nov 29th 2011 to enable connectivity to the PSVita, which will enable you to back up data from the PSVita to your Playstation 3's HDD. You'll also be able to copy your Videos, Music and Images to and from the Playstation 3 and vice versa. You can toggle individual settings like Game Patches, Trophy Data, System Updates and more.
Group messaging is also in FW4.00.

This is a pretty clear give away that the Playstation 3 will be around for 2012 (but it maybe it's last year) and will be paired with the PSVita for maybe game connections as well. Starting to look interesting gamers!

Mortal Kombat overview

Hi gamers!

All weekend I've been playing Mortal Kombat non-stop, it's one of the most addictive games I've played. It's not addictive cause it's fun (well it is) but it's because it's frustrating as all hell. I can't help but get the shits when playing this game it's enjoyable no doubt, but I just want to see the ending of story mode.

Shao Kahn is one cheap mother fucker, he is pretty immune to pretty much every blow when you're close range. When you're playing as Raiden he's attacks are fairly slow and  you're there kicking Shao Kahn but all he does is knock you down and kick you away, while throwing spears.
The only way I managed to beat Shao Kahn was by jump and kicking his head, while keeping my distance, and shooting projectiles that Raiden can perform. It's rather tedious but it gets the job done..

I rather liked the ending of the storyline and I must say the storyline was good, kept me entertained for the whole weekend. However it's pretty short though.
The detail in this game looks amazing at 1080p and I'm only using a cheap HDMI cable (not sure if there is a difference or not, the cable cost me $3).

It's great to be able to play the game as well just gotta love all the blood and cracking bones :D, sadly still hasn't be classified here in Australia I'm sure every Mortal Kombat fan would be happy to buy it here and support local stores, but hey.. We had no choice. Just start making R ratings for games already...

It's a great revision to Mortal Kombat, I actually haven't played any other Mortal Kombat from start to finish. Now I love the game I'd probably start searching for it's history. :)

Royal Airmail the fuck is going on? -- I GOT MORTAL KOMBAT though!

Hi gamers,

As confusing as the bloody title is I've got great news! I recieved Mortal Kombat!!! Such a fantastic game and I'm loving every second of it, apart from getting frustrated at the AI, but it's very additive, violent and has Mileena :D.

Now Royal Airmail where to start... It's confusing and slow. I ordered Mortal Kombat last week and it arrived today. Ordered Metroid Other M, Guild Wars, Ridge Racer V and Wreckless they all have not arrived yet and ALL from the UK. Now why did Mortal Kombat come first? So confusing and frustrating, too bad everything I want comes from the UK and believe it or not it's the most affordable way to buy games, even with the exchange rate! Well I keep digging deeper and deeper into the topic but I think you get the idea. :)

The result of this weekends' game hunting

Hi gamers!

Today I went with a friend to the city to find some more Playstation 2 games at random EB Games stores. I managed to pick up two games that I haven't seen from my two local stores. I picked up RC Revenge and Resident Evil Code Veronica X, both were very nice condition but I'm guessing they were buffed/re-surfaced.

While walking around the city I wondered into JB-Hi-Fi and found SEGA Rally for $9, every where else has it for $30 *over priced?*. Wasn't worth leaving so I bought that as well, especially for $9 :)

Tekken 6 and Burnout 3 are my friend's games.

On the way home, I stopped by another JB and my friend found X-Blades another game I was looking for. I managed to get it for $24, GAME was selling it for $44 and it was a ex-rental, -shhheeesh!-.

So that's really about it for today's game hunting, more next weekend!

Playstation 3 metldr838exploit leaked. Pissed developer reveals how it's done!

Hi gamers,

This was brought to my attention by a story I read today, the 'metldr' exploit was leaked by another scene member for some unknown reason without actually knowning what the exploit does he/she went ahead with it anyway. The original developer then posted all his research and efforts as a text file and sent it out on various Playstation 3 scene forums, this file has now been posted on many more forums and has now spread like wild fire.

The original developer for this exploit has this to say:
1:15pm] <Mathieulh> leakers gotta leak
[1:15pm] <Mathieulh> I am actually explaining how it works
[1:15pm] <Mathieulh> and put a big screw to the scene with it
[1:15pm] <Mathieulh> cause the fucking leaker wouldn't be able to tell you how it fucking works
Now as a final line, I'd like to say screw leakers, screw the scene, and this is my last contribution to it EVER. It seems I can't even trust fellow developers to keep my work safe and not leaking it. (Not like any of them would have been able to tell you how all this even works in the first place)
This is absolutely no use to end-users but this exploit could open up a clean path for all scene developers, it's very unfair that Mathieulh's exploit got leaked by some ungrateful person you'd think someone else who is developing in the scene could be trusted. To any developer out there, keep your codes/research to yourself as you'd like your name to be on the end result not somebody else's.

So what exactly does this exploit lead to? Well it can pretty much lead to hacks like Dark_Alex did many moons ago with the PSP. Pretty exciting news but at the same time very disappointing. Seems pretty interesting thought it was worth the share.

I found what I was looking for! Recent collecting..

Hi gamers!

Yesterday I made an entry about which games I was going to look for when going down town, I managed to find 2/3 games I was looking for. One of them was a game I used to own (which many of us do and later on regret by trading them in), I found Burnout 3 non-platinum for $11.. Yeah I don't believe it either from what I was seeing on eBay and some other stores having the game, they were selling it for around $25-30 although it's a great classic game it was a bit much. So I just had to buy this game, I really did miss it..

Another game I finally found was Ridge Racer 7, another old game for the Playstation 3 I really wanted I'd really like to collect more in the Ridge Racer series as they're really fun but challenging racing games.
Both games were pretty good condition for being used, now I have so many games to complete..

Heavenly Sword search is over!

Hi gamers,

The night before I wrote a list of games I've wanted when I didn't own a Playstation 3.. One of those included 'Heavenly Sword'. I can recall reading about this game, and it having a unique feel and it was also featured on the Australia game show "Good Game".
I then downloaded the demo and loved it straight away, it felt a lot like N3 mass waves of enemies and long button combinations. This is my type of game!!

After class, a few friends of mine joined me to go looking for some games across the raod at the stores. A few places started clearing out a lot of the older games mainly used ones, also it's stock-take clearance as well. Went to GAME, JB Hi-Fi and EB Games (I'm limited to those 3 stores as the others are just shit), GAME had nothing as usual, although JB and EB have had pretty interesting titles on the shelves.
Anyway, looking every where for Heavenly Sword as looked down a few more racks and there it was! Well not quite.. I asked the guy if they had one used, he said there is but it's the last copy they had... yeah why not. Seeing that it was near perfect condition apart from the scratched cover $23 wasn't bad.

My thoughts on the game so far:

- The first chapter is very informative, introduces the main character Nariko and close friend? Kai.

- Graphics are very impressive even on 576i, I can't think of what it'd look like on 1080p!

- Controls are actually pretty good, uses the Sixaxis controller well nearly every button is used.

- I haven't learnt the HUD that well, it's too small for my liking. Could be the video settings.

- Character modelling looks fantastic, animation just as beautiful.

- Dislike there is no trophy support, apparently the producers of the game and SONY have parted ways.

I might talk more about this game in my next collection video at the end of this month. Stay tuned :)

Faulty Playstation 3 from ebay outcome.

Hi gamers!

Yesterday I shipped the Playstation 3 I got from eBay back to the seller, when I got home I put all the information into PayPal. Oh shit, I did something wrong I called PayPal and fixed the problem up no worries.

At 3AM last night my iPhone went off saying I have an email from PayPal, shit.. what's this going to be? I open the email up and I read the following message "You have received your refund of $265". That was quick! Not bad being disturbed at 3AM for news like this :D

Then I jumped on the PC and gave that fucker negative feedback, and went to bed...

In the morning, I checked my feedback I left for him he replied "Buyer received full refund. Buyer opened PS3 and did work on it voiding warranty" The shit!? I only posted it yesterday how can this guy have it already? So I check the tracking, and it hasn't even moved from the post office (Yeah Australia post are balls) let alone he didn't even refund me, PayPal did.
you tell me if you now trust this guy.. I sure bloody don't. He's also been selling fake Playstation 3 controllers, what a scammer. I managed to get one of these controllers along with the Playstation 3 he sent me.

Many images can be found below of the differences, they're very close to the original I own from the Slim I bought. OEM is the original and the fake is.. well the fake that I got from the idiot seller.

Not looking very good for this seller, he just got another negative about selling fake controllers. Most likely the exact same one I got in the bundle. What an idiot.

HeXiGON signing out.

Need For Speed: The Run demo is horrible.

Hi gamers!

Well am I on fire or what, two posts in one day.. nah just kidding. Anyway, I just download the demo for 'The Run' and when I started it up I was greeted with breaking up music signed into my Autolog account and started the demo, intro starts and keeps skipping like a scratched DVD.

I tried both cars, the handling is a bit stupid and the overall gameplay feels.. just like any other recent Need For Speed (again going for realistic handing but unrealistic with N2O yeah go figure). But I'm a big fan of Arcade racers, and hate Simulation racing. There is just very little fun in this one, not much sense of speed, the AI are crap and the N2O is useless.

Some people maybe reading this and saying "You haven't given it a chance" well I'd love to but I can't do anything else than that one race after it crashes. It has nothing to do with my Playstation 3 either, it's only 5 days old. Besides, if you played the new Hot Pursuit it's very similar just with a worse camera. I prefer Hot Pursuit way more than this game, even though it handles a little worse, and looks the same. Let me tell you, it's nothing great.

After passing all 10 cars you have to pass the finish line then end of the race...cool. The game then loads, and that's it... it crashes. Good fucking demo! No "thanks for playing, in stores XX/XX/XX" what a waste of 1.2GB, save your time and download when they fix this... that's if they do.

After many resets later, I just uninstalled the demo. Sorry EA, but I pass out on this Need For Speed as well.
