Hi gamers and collectors!
Welcome back to yet another addition to my XBOX collection, and here I have another XBOX with controllers and a DVD Kit. So why did I buy ANOTHER XBOX? Well XBOX controllers are hard to come by here, you'll rarely find loose ones for sale any where, even on eBay - and if they are loose on eBay it's $15-20 for one... So I've been watching and watching for a bundle with two controllers I don't own yet, and I did it!
I got the lot including postage for around $45, so when you add everything together it works out very well. XBOX systems on their own go for around $30-$45, and the controllers like I mentioned earlier for $15-$20 *click* nice. Oh well the pointless money grabbing DVD kit can go for $30 (I don't see many of them pop up on their own) and yes, it melted. No really many sellers over price them.
I love the blue controller, and in fact these controllers look barely used. The buttons snap back up, and triggers feel very nice. I noticed while running the XBOX controller tool on my XDK (check my Instagram for that) the green controller RS is a little off. It's probably a bit dusty as when the stick is moved in a 360 motion really fast the issue is resolved. You can often tell when a controller has been heavily used, the little dot-grips are worn away - most of my controllers are like that.
What was really exciting me about this buy other than the two sexy controllers I finally own, is what version the XBOX was. The system hasn't been opened so I couldn't tell by the screws, by reading and decoding the MFG date under the console it was made in 2004... OH NOOEEEE the moment I dread (I think that's enough M.Rosen references) many consoles made in 2004 have Philips drives, >_> these drives sound awesome but they are really, really poor, I've been told the Thompson drives are the worse of them all - I've honestly never had experience with them, even my XDK has a Philips drive, and if that's not bad enough so does my Crystal Pack XBOX! I HATE PHILIPS DRIVES... I'm guessing you figured that out by now. Anyway moving on. So the MFG date is 2004 straight away I knew it's a 1.1b, so I loaded up SID through AUF and bam 1.1b detected. I'm yet to own any other version systems. I own a 1.6 as well though.
More games to come during the week, see you there!!
