Hi gamers and collectors,
Welcome back to yet another addition to my XBOX collection, today we'll be looking at the v1.6 modded with the DUO X2 running the M8+ BIOS. The unit it's self seems to be mistreated, lots of marks, scuffs and rust inside and out. No idea where this system was kept, and I'm surprised it's still running.
I basically bought it for the modchip, I wouldn't mind repainting the case with a gloss finish or something. What I find really odd is that this system wasn't upgraded, or even modded with a custom dash let alone the EvoX dash. It's running from what I believe one of the last BIOS released for the DUO X2, I was annoyed for the fact that the chip wasn't dual-booted. Ah well.
So I later installed EvoX onto it, to gather more information about it. When I was buying this or buying any other XBOX I always check to see if the system has been opened, it's a dead give away if it's modified or not but not the best way to tell, as some people just open the system to clean it or softmod...
On the topic of cleaning, it took me close to 1-2 hours blowing the shit out of this XBOX - there was chunks of 'stuff' inside it, clunks of dust, bugs and spider webs. I have no clue where this system was kept... Just where was it?!
The picture above shows the rust on the metal shielding, and it's like that on both sides as well. Can you believe the HDD and the DVD-ROM still works?! It's a surely abused system and I have no clue how it's still functional.
The DVD-ROM tray is a little bumped out, not sure why but it's not sitting flush like my other 4 XBOXes. It doesn't effect the function of the system though, the tray slides out nice and easy unlike the sticky Samsung drive - not until owning this system, I wasn't aware the XBOX had LG-Hitachi DVD-ROMs this is the best drive for the system though.
So what did I end up paying for this beat up box? Well $40, which isn't bad considering it's possibilities. I'll try cleaning it up more with a 'magic eraser' and install a bigger, faster Hard Disk. Later on I'll consider what I might do with it...
That's all for me, more games coming during the week. See you there!
